Pneumatic Actuator

A pneumatic actuator is a mechanical device that uses compressed air to produce controlled motion. It is widely used in industrial automation, medical equipment, and precision machinery. By converting air pressure into linear or rotational movement, pneumatic actuators can operate valves, pumps, and robotic systems efficiently.

They are valued for their reliability, fast response, and ability to function in clean or sensitive environments. In medical settings, they may be used in devices that require precise and smooth movement.

Fibrous Dysplasia

Fibrous dysplasia is a bone disorder where normal bone is replaced with fibrous tissue, leading to weak or uneven bone structure. It can affect one or multiple bones and may cause pain, deformity, or fractures. Management focuses on symptom relief and maintaining bone strength.

Fracture fixation is the orthopedic process of stabilizing a broken bone using mechanical implants, which can be internal (plates, screws, intramedullary nails) or external (fixators). The ultimate goal is to facilitate "primary healing" by minimizing movement at the fracture site, allowing the bone to knit back together without the formation of excessive callus tissue. The discussion in this field has shifted from "rigid fixation" toward "biological fixation." While early implants were designed to be as stiff as possible, surgeons now realize that some degree of controlled micro-motion can actually stimulate bone growth. This has led to the development of "locking plate" systems that provide stability without compressing the periosteum, preserving the vital blood supply to the healing bone.
